California Legislation Targets Violent Games

A bill that makes employees of businesses that knowingly sell or rent violent video games to minors civilly liable passed the California House 81-16 last week. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that police officers would be able to fine retail clerks 500 dollars. Rep. Mary Lou Dickerson - chairwoman of the House Juvenile Justice and Family Law Committee - said the legislation comes at a time when the industry went back on a voluntary deal to educate retailers on how to properly sell violent video games.
